History of Lincoln Park
Lincoln Park is Chicago Community Area 7. Its history reflects Chicago’s transformation from Indigenous homelands and a nineteenth-century trading and transportation center into a major industrial, architectural, and cultural metropolis. Railroads, transit lines, immigration, migration, housing, commerce, schools, parks, faith communities, and neighborhood institutions have all helped shape the area’s identity.
